Sesshomaru was looking for a place to make camp for himself, Rin and Jaken. It had been a long day and he had to slay several demons, including one that tried to touch Rin.
Idiot. He must have had a death wish to even consider thinking to touch my ward.
His thoughts then drifted to another matter concerning his brother’s (and now his own) enemy, Naraku.
He would already be dead if I was the one wielding Tessaiga. Stupid half-breed. I still do not understand why father entrusted Inuyasha with such a sword, and me with this pointless sword meant to save lives.
A gust of wind cleared his thoughts as a woman with red eyes, a green clip in her hair, and a fan appeared before him.
“Kagura”
“Hello Sesshomaru, it has certainly been a long time.”
“Jaken, take Rin away from here now.”
Jaken, who had already suffered one beating that day, decided not to argue and took the girl away.
“Alright, spare the hellos Kagura, what is your business here? Still expect me to defeat Naraku for you?”
“Well, no, I just wanted to see you. Is that a crime?”
“I try not to associate myself with the enemy.”
“But I am not your enemy, Naraku is.”
“Exactly, and you are a part of him are you not?”
“No, I am my own person….”
“He possesses your heart if I am not mistaken?”
“Well yes but…”
“So you see Kagura, these supposed feelings you have for me cannot be entirely true, as my enemy, whom you are a part of nonetheless, holds your heart. Therefore no one else can have it.”
“I…don’t understand.”
With an ice cold glare, responded to her and said
“Understand this. If you ever come near me again, I will surely kill you.”
Kagura hated to give up so easily, and so she attempted to approach him.
He sent another glare, and as she slowly stepped closer, trying to reach out for him, his name gracing her lips.
Suddenly, without warning, a mass of blood was trickling down Kagura’s face.
“I told you not to come near me. Did you not think I would make due on my promise?”
“No, I just thought…”
“You thought nothing. I gave you a fair chance to escape. Now you will suffer the consequences of your stupidity.”
With that said Sesshomaru extended his claws and slashed at her repeatedly until the blood loss was so great that she could not pick herself from the ground. She had tried to resist, and even got in a few attacks of her own, but in the end, Sesshomaru bested her.
Kneeling down beside her nearly lifeless body he whispered
“You should have escaped.”
