She had told me she loved me, and I told her that it was an illusion. Not moments later I was over her unconscious body, blood dripping from her body, and I couldn’t help but blame myself. The truth of the matter was, I loved her too, but was too damn scared to admit it.

For once I can touch what my heart used to dream of

She was in the hospital for a while due to the fall. Her friends wouldn’t allow me to see her, and I suppose it was a good thing, because it allowed me to reflect on some things. And when the day came for her to be released, I knew I had to tell her.

For once, I have something I know won't desert me
I'm not alone anymore

She ran away from me screaming. I hollered after her that people who are recovering shouldn’t be running, and then ran after her. I would not let her get away. I told her then that I loved her, and that I wanted to be with her, together. She smiled, and asked to hug me. I knew I would lose my human body after seconds of contact, but even if I only had a moment to feel the warmth of her body close to mine, that was fine with me. Our bodies touched, and I got lost in her embrace…and then I realized….I had not changed!

I was no longer cursed! I ripped the beads off my arm and rejoiced! Tohru started to cry, but I knew it wasn’t of sadness but happiness. I cried with her for a while too, and then we went home hand in hand.

Since that day, she and I have been inseparable. We would walk together to school with Yuki and Machi. I hate to admit, but I was happy for the damn rat. In fact, we didn’t really fight as much anymore. I think we fought before so much because of Tohru. He did in fact love her at some point, and in his own way still does I suppose. He made a point to tell me that if I screwed things up with her or hurt her in anyway, there would be a reckoning. The way he said that to me scared me in all honesty, but I’d never tell anyone; and anyway, I vow to keep Tohru smiling for the rest of our lives....together.
