I look at my sister and Inuyasha and think…will I ever find love like that someday? I turned 15 this year, and every time Kagome and Inuyasha come through the well for a visit, it makes me wonder. Mom has been silly trying to set me up on blind dates, but they all end up in disaster. The last girl she set me up with had horrible teeth and a uni-brow. What was I supposed to say to that? As soon as I met her at the restaurant, I told her I suddenly felt ill, and that I needed to leave. She must’ve picked up on the lie because she scoffed, and just waved me off.

Inuyasha and Kagome were home for another visit, and while she went off with her friends Inuyasha stayed home and helped my mom with stuff.

When Kagome came home, my mom invited her friends in. They all filed in, and I said hello to all of them, when I suddenly realized there was a new face. She seemed younger that Kagome and her friends. She looked just about as old as me. Great, another set up, only this time it’s my sister doing it. At least the girl is pretty.

“Oh, Souta, I’m sorry! This is Hitomi, Yuka’s cousin. She’s going to be living with Yuka for a while, since Yuka just got her own place and needs help.”

I got a closer look of the girl. She seemed pretty shy, and suddenly, looking into her eyes, I felt just as shy.

“Hi, I’m Kagome, Souta’s brother.”

The girl giggled and then I realized what I had just said. Dammit.

“Well hello Souta. I’m Hitomi, Yuka’s cousin. I just moved here from America.”

The rest of the girls ‘subtly’ left the room, and me and Hitomi started talking to each other.

At first I felt shy and akward, but as the conversation progessed I found myself wanting to know more about her. We talked about music, movies, our families and various other topics. It started to get late, and the girls ‘suddenly’ reappeared in the room, Yuka telling Hitomi they needed to go home.

“Well, it was very nice to meet you Souta” Hitomi said extending her hand towards mine.

“Thank you, it was nice to meet you too” I said.

I started to look at her retreating figure, wishing I had said more, when Kagome elbowed me in the side, and then pushed me forward.

“Go ask the girl out moron!” she hissed quietly to me.

Normally, I would’ve stuck my tongue out or some other childish action, but this time, I actually wanted to do what my sister asked.

I ran to the girl, and asked her to go out with me for dinner on Friday. She smiled and said yes, then kissed me on the cheek. I blushed, and she walked away.

I felt like floating. Inuyasha was standing with Kagome now by the doorway, and Inuyasha had a smirk on his face.

“Whats gotten into him?” I heard him whisper to my sister.

Kagome just smiled and said to him “He met a girl.”

I knew Inuyasha was probably making fun of me, but I didn’t care. I went to my room and fell asleep with a huge grin on my face. Maybe I would find love after all.
