As I sit here in the place I've come to call home, I recall memories of my mother. She loved me unconditionally. I never thought I'd ever be loved by anyone again, and began to hate the human race. And then I met Kikyo. Perhaps, it is not love of a romantic kind, at least not yet. But she is a kind woman, and I would do anything for her, so I guess you could say we are companions.

I'm supposed to be meeting her today out on the field. I'm very nervous. I take the last memoir I have of my mother, her red lipstick and tuck it into my haori. I have no use for it, but I'm sure it will look beautiful on Kikyo. I set out to meet her. I try to picture her with the lipstick and a smile breaks on my face. Perhaps she won't look as beautiful as mother did, but she'll definitely look gorgeous.
